Sixty-five million years ago, the Chixulub asteroid killed off all the dinosaurs. Will the asteroid Apophis do the same to humanity? Not if Russia and the US can do anything about it, thanks to Anatoly Perminov, head of the Russian Space Agency, and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA).

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) has sent a letter to Anatoly Perminov, head of the Russian Space Agency, praising Russia’s decision to set up a mission to alter the path of an asteroid on a potential collision course with Earth.
The impetus for such a project stems from the current trajectory of Asteroid Apophis, scheduled to make its first pass around Earth in the year 2029, close enough to travel beneath our communications satellites. However, the asteroid is reported to return in 2036 with a slight chance of actual impact.
I have been receiving private instant messages about this. That doesn’t happen unless the sender feels that there is something to worry about. Therefore, for the sake of humanity, to the US and Russia: Let’s get it together, folks! Work together and find a way to send this deadly potato elsewhere.
Catch you on the Backside!
